  • Resident Evil Requiem Trailer Reveals the Dark Past of Grace Ashcroft

Capcom has dropped a chilling new trailer for Resident Evil Requiem during Gamescom Opening Night Live, giving fans a deeper look at the mysterious backstory of its new heroine, Grace Ashcroft.

The trailer opens with Grace and her mother, Alyssa Ashcroft—a journalist fans may remember from Resident Evil Outbreak (2003)—inside a hotel room. Grace receives an eerie phone call from an unknown man who hangs up instantly. Suddenly, the entire hotel is plunged into darkness, setting the stage for chaos.

As they seek help, the pair encounters the hotel manager, who promises to fix the outage. But before he can act, he’s brutally attacked by a hooded, pale-skinned figure reminiscent of Resident Evil’s undead and cultists. The Ashcrofts flee, and just as Grace turns to speak to her mother, she lets out a blood-curdling scream—before the trailer cuts to black.

This new footage sheds light on Grace’s past, filling in the story between her childhood and her later life as an FBI analyst, first shown in the June reveal trailer. It’s a haunting connection to her mother’s tragic fate, offering fans more emotional weight behind her character.

Alongside Resident Evil Requiem, Gamescom featured other major announcements, including updates for The Outer Worlds 2, Ghost of Yotei, Silent Hill F, and reveals like Lords of the Fallen 2, Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, and Black Myth: Zhong Kui—a sequel to the acclaimed Black Myth: Wukong.

Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem will officially release on February 27, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
